Once again made possible!

Over 566-million seedlings have been planted nation-wide in just 12 hours. Once again, Ethiopia has proven its wisdom and capability of mobilizing the entire citizens as well as friends for one common goal.

Later yesterday, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (Ph.D) broke the news that Ethiopians all over the country made a huge turnout and planted 566, 971,600 million tree seedlings in 12 hours. In 2019, Ethiopia set a new world record planting 350 million tree seedlings in 12 hours which the UN Environmental Programme called it “an ambitious move to counter the effects of deforestation and climate change.”

What anastounding move and well framed national coordination it is!

Yes, Ethiopians planted record 350 million trees in 12 hours in 2019, and this year’s seedling planting hassurpassed the previous record by 150 million. Without a shadow of doubt, if united, Ethiopians can achieve what they would love to do in all spheres and their next march has to be against poverty and spirit of fragmentation, which would potentially make all citizens handicap and highly likely exposed to dependency and dearth.

Prime Minister Abiy once had thrown a golden utterance about planting tree seedlings saying, ‘It is neither a political issue nor a party program and even it is not an issue of administration/government. It is a matter of building a great nation-Ethiopia.’

Taking this remarkable statement and practical move into account, Ethiopians from corner to corner moved to plant tree seedlings on 17, 2023, Monday. Besides, they participated in the program regardless of sex, religion, culture, political affiliation, social status, educational level, individual or collective ideology or thinking, because this is Ethiopia, a nation houses over 120 million inhabitants, advancing towards prosperity and development. Ethiopians made history yesterday, indeed!

It is well recognized that the Green Legacy Initiative was initiated in 2019 with a view addressing various environmental challenges via promoting a green culture.

Thanks to the visionary leaders and honest citizenries, Ethiopia has broken the world record for the largest number of trees planted in half a day, in just 12 hours, and has simultaneously contributed a little portion to make the planet greener.

The government of Ethiopia is determined than ever before to widely mobilize citizens to take part in such a mammoth trek to imprint their respective legacy at the largest tree-planting exercise in 12 hours in 2023.

This historic mass tree planting initiative remains to be unattainable for others, but Ethiopia has been making it a success, and it is recording a shining history in this regard. The generation to come will highly proud of this great nation as the existing ones are thinking of the future and implementing to bestow a better country for the former.

Not only is planting seedlings of paramount importance in making the land green and fueling the fight against the impacts of global warming, but it is also instrumental in ensuring food security by tackling shortage of fruits and vegetables in the market and creating more jobs for many citizenries.

By and large, Ethiopians can draw importance lessons from their coordinated effort exerted towards making the national plan a reality—Planting 500 million tree seedlings half a day. Apart from providing citizens with a telling lesson to hit the set target in all aspects when united, the positive move in making the earth green has also a noteworthy bounty in teaching Ethiopians about the significance of moving together. True, making history in all aspects for Ethiopians is at the palm if they wholeheartedly unite and responsibly act. What was learnt from the green legacy initiative nationwide yesterday is a clear manifestation of moving in unison!
