ADDIS ABABA- The Ethiopian Press Agency (EPA) Training Center has been providing capacity building programs for over 7,000 Addis Ababa Public Bus Enterprise as well as Trade Bureau senior managers and employees.

The center is providing training to more than 7,000 senior managers and employees of the enterprise with the concept of “Building better personality for servant-hood mindset and action”. The training will be carried out in five rounds and yesterday it gave the first round of training to more than 800 staff.

Speaking at the opening of the training, Addis Ababa Public Bus Enterprise General Manager Gizaw Alemu highlighted the training would enable the company to provide efficient service for its customers estimated to be one million in daily operation.

“Our company directly serves more than one million citizens, which means that the company’s employees communicate with many people. It is necessary to provide efficient service by understanding the  customer’s point of view and we choose the EPA to provide us the training.”

EPA is the oldest and largest media institution and has extensive experience in training. To this end, 7,000 senior managers and employees would receive training in the EPA’s center for five days. “We believe that the training will bring about a positive change in our work.”

EPA’s General Manager Getent Tadesse expressed his satisfaction with the agency’s cooperation with the enterprise and pointed out that the training is directly related to the daily activities of the latter.

The EPA has documented the beginning of bus transport services in Addis Ababa and it has numerous historical photos, news and articles regarding the service, Getent emphasized.

By the same token, the EPA is providing training to Addis Ababa Trade Bureau managers and experts under the theme “Servant-hood mindset for Success.”

Ashenafi Abera, a lecturer and life skills trainer at Addis Ababa University, said in the training program that to provide better service to the country and the people, it is better to be a person than to be a leader or an employee. “A person, who is good at his personal life, cares for himself and has goals, has a great role in achieving the mission and vision of the institution they serve.”

The lecturer, who pointed out that there was a great motivation to change on the part of the trainees, said that the good start shown by the EPA training center should be strengthened and continued in an organized manner.

It is known that EPA training center has been providing trainings for managers and employees of federal and Addis Ababa administration institutions on 14 subjects for consecutive days.
