Profile of Amhara State Chief late Ambachew Mekonnen (PhD)

 – Born in 1971 at South Gonder, Tachgaint Wereda, Aqeto town in Amhara State.

– Went to Aqeto Primary School and Nefas Mewcha Senior Secondary and Preparatory School, in Amhara State.

– Received BA Degree from Ethiopian Civil Service University.

– Obtained Master’s Degree from Korea and PhD from Kent University of England.

– Served as Wereda, Zonal, Regional administrator.

– Served as Minister of Urban Development and Construction as well as Minister of Industry.

– Appointed as Infrastructure Advisor to Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed until he was appointed as Amhara State Chief in early 2019.

– Killed in coup attempt in Bahir Dar city on June 22, 2019 aged 48.

– Was one of the leading reformists aimed to solving the political, social and economic problems of the country and the people.

– Survived by wife, three daughters and a son.
