The latest chaos in Sudan has attracted the attention of the world. Indeed it deserves to get due attention as it is likely to endanger the security of not only the country but also the region, the continent and Middle East, too. However, the responsibility of seeking lasting solution to it would rather be left largely to be handled by the Sudanese themselves and then Africans when necessary.
This is not to disregard the positive and constructive role that could be played by other external concerned bodies, friends … etc. However considering the long time impact of meddling in the internal affairs of nations, especially those in the East and Horn of Africa, due care should be made not to open chances for that problem.
Africa in general or east Africa in particular is the center of gravity for the western powers due to the resource potential it has and the strategic geopolitical location. These powers repeatedly showed us that they did not wish opulence for the stated countries or simply they wanted the continent to remain poor. If not, they know that they could not have a chance to acquire the untapped resource potential with the cheapest price.
So these forces are not likely to sit idle from goading Africa away from growing its vital sectors like manufacturing and tourism. This is because they have for decades perceived that the growth of such sectors would deny them their supply of inputs and resources for their own industries. So, they make Africa especially the east Africa countries restless in settling their internal dispute or affairs. Earlier, the western powers were severely conducting various studies and/ or digging various gaps that helped them to identify a point of controversy between African countries and /or brothers of the same nation.
Once they had gotten to the point of disagreement, they consulted the two warriors and provided various support including armaments. Finally, after doing all these evil acts, they created mistrust between the two brothers but at the end of the day they appeared as negotiators. Sometimes, they interfere in internal affairs of the two countries portraying themselves as if they are wishing democracy and good governance in the continent.
The war instigated by these evil actors does not get its ends simply, it would rather consume the expensive lives of young African labor forces who can contribute a lot to build prosperous Africa. The war which was fueled by western powers crushed the productive hands of many Africans and destroyed the resources of the continent. During this war time, no investor aspired to invest in the continent where instability occurs. Even after the war ends, African countries seek the hands of some western countries to restore the sluggish economy that is highly broken down due to the war.
Previously the African continent in general was unstable following the activities of terrorist groups such as Boko Haram, Al Shababa, ISIS. I guess these terrorist groups had been created with a mission to run the hidden agenda of some western powers. Their assumption is, if Africa is continued to be a war zone, countries won’t have a time to think about development. This way they made their dream a reality
Unless we resolve our problems through our traditional wisdom, expecting solutions from our enemies is exactly the same as the deeds of a foolish man who expects honey to fly. If two antelopes are expecting arbitration from an angry lion; they will not have a better option than becoming delicious dishes.
In this case, the lion did not make any mistake. If the westerners are talking about democracy, we should not give deaf ears to them as the rhetoric of democracy is not working in their country. They would rather prepare all these political concepts to remain Africa poor. Even though the continent is coming up with wonderful development agendas such as Agenda 2063, the plans have not escaped from being a paper tiger. The absence of loans from financial institutions is a case in point that contributes to not implementing the plan.
Thus, African countries should unite more than ever before and pledge themselves not to resolve differences with war. They also must create a bond between them for the implementation of Africa continental free trade area. Waiting much of our time to ensure sustainable development is the only option for Africans to declare their dependence from the hands of westerners.
