A heartening golden jubilee

The Catering and Tourism Training Institute (CTTI) which has been playing a major role in breaking new ground in the spheres of hotel and tourism for five decades, has recently celebrated its golden jubilee making use of a range of colorful activities related to the day giving special emphasis to the catch phrase ‘Pioneer of Hospitality Industry’

It is no secret that most graduates of the CTTI have been rendering Ethiopia’s tourism and hotel sectors a turn for the better by putting what they have acquired from the institute into effect and getting themselves fully involved in the profession.

According to the Board Chairman of the CTTI, Teshome Lemma, Catering and Tourism Training Institute possesses a wealth of experience in playing a major role in producing competent professionals for the most part in the sphere of tourism as well as performing research and counseling services.

It is obvious that Ethiopia owns a wide-array of historic and religious values, diverse cultures, beliefs and languages. Above and beyond, various Nations, Nationalities and Peoples live under the umbrella of Ethiopia, the cradle of mankind and the basis of civilization.

He continued, “As tourism plays a major role in creating more than a few job opportunities, we should attach weight to natural and manmade heritages of the country by allowing them to thrive and taking care of them. Furthermore, we should propel tourism services to international fame by meeting the world standard. Also, we should focus on increasing tourists’ inflow and making their stay longer than ever before. Augmenting foreign currency flow as well as creating conducive environment to make people beneficiary from the sector do need a great effort.

As said by Buzena Alkedir, State Minster at Tourism sector under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Catering and Tourism Training Institute which is accountable to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, is a pioneer institute with privileged circumstances of experience in giving birth to problem solving research and studies and competent professionals in tourism sector as well as providing counseling services. As being the owner of natural, historic and cultural attractions, it is the pride and asset of the country, one should as well prove the country’s hospitality for domestic and foreign visitors so as to make others follow suit.

“The government of Ethiopia is working around the clock with a view to fulfilling service providing institutions with competent manpower, improving quality and modernizing them bringing into being strategic direction and goals at this moment in time. In terms of producing competent professionals and discharging national responsibility, the Catering and Tourism Training Institute is shouldering a huge task at the forefront,” she wrapped up.
