Tigray rebels vow to pursue military advance in northern Ethiopia
Tigrayan rebels said Tuesday they intended to advance further into neighboring regions of northern Ethiopia…” and it quotes the spokesman as saying. “…and we’ll continue to neutralize (them) and that will take us probably deeper and deeper into Amhara region.” Well that didn’t happen. And it seems the ….couldn’t hide their frustration
One very ‘loyal’ supporter of the group designated as terrorist by the Ethiopian parliament is already up in arms! And one has to admit seeing the … he is in the guy must be in some sort of….. Is anything wrong good old Mr., Rashid Abdi? You don’t have to wrack your brain why the name sounds familiar. Well since the new Ethiopian year is around the corner I’ll be the nice kid on the block and tell you. It sounds familiar because it IS familiar. Yes I knew you’ll recall it. He is the same fellow who was on the frontlines of the propaganda war during the last conflict in the northern Ethiopia. Di I hear someone saying he’s a researcher of the horn of Africa or something? Sorry, though I haven’t had too long a sleep like Rip Van Winkle it just bugs me how that could be. From his tweets what I can see is if he can’t see a little even a very little portion of the truth out hear how can he an expert or anything about the Horn. Someone please investigate if there is another Horn of Africa that we don’t yet know about.
Here is one of his tweets.
“From the Horn’s preeminent diplomatic and military power and a rising economic giant, Ethiopia has been within 5 years reduced to a miserable state at war with itself, and subservient to tiny Eritrea, its strategic enemy.” This comes on the footsteps of the news that fighting has flared up on the Eritrean side. All of a sudden he sounds as if he has some good things to say about Ethiopia and it was his way creating some confusion. Did you say “strategic enemy?” and that coming from an ‘expert’ of the region! One should see the replies to his tweet about how people feel about this guy who all of a sudden seem to have dug him out of some rabbit hole or something.
A tweeter user replies “Your unhinged resort to lies reminds me of a guy in my grad school who was too lazy to collect data from the field and resorted to fabrication. He thought no one knew but everyone knew his entire analysis was based on fabricated data.” Cheers! That is what you might call telling as it is!
The guy probably frustrated because he failed to get the accolades and the applause gets into a tweeting frenzy. He tweets;
Asmara effectively telling Abiy we prosecute this war our way or no way. Implications: Ethiopia now hopelessly beholden to Eritrea. Deepening Eritrean involvement now puts paid to any prospect for peace.
…and he tweets…
If Eritrea succeeds in reconfiguring Tigray, turning Ethiopia into vassal state it won’t stop there. A triumphant Eritrea will further destabilize the Horn. In a way, Tigray is the party that stands for regional peace and stability and not the Abiy-Afewerki alliance.
What an analyst! WHAT an ANALYST!
On twitter user really scores what the Americans call a homerun when he tweets, “Oh, Rabid Abdi. I feel sad for those who take you seriously. Your routinized lies, fictitious “updates”, wild guesses presented as prediction are just ceaseless and useless just like this tweet of yours last year;”
“By this time tomorrow Addis would likely be under the control of OLA and TDF.” Yes, that is what the Abdi guy tweeted Nov 3, 2001. The same day he tweets about “Pressure mounting on Abiy to go into exile…” Did someone say this guy is a researcher on the Horn of Africa or something? I really mean it! Which Horn of Africa are we talking about! At least the horn of Africa doesn’t come anywhere close to what he’s saying.
The media are all over it with
“Tigray rebels vow to pursue military advance in northern Ethiopia” one news agency titles its story. Take note that they are not talking about aggression or attacks or anything like that they are talking about ‘vow to pursue military advance as if it was some ‘vow’ to make the world better. It goes on to quote the spokesman of the group… “Abiy keeps making miscalculation after miscalculation, he keeps sending reinforcements and we’ll continue to neutralize (them) and that will take us probably deeper and deeper into Amhara region.” Imagine the uproar the cheer leaders would have created if an Ethiopian official has talked in such a strong language. And this is not a war between counties. It is a war against a group designated as terrorist and all this time the same news agencies that had sank to the deepest levels of journalistic mugging.
The next day the same news agency tiles it news, “Fighting spreads in Ethiopia as Tigray hit by air strike.” Ha! This is no news about the “fight spreading” but about Tigray being hit by airstrike! I mean, there isn’t any quantum thing in understanding where and on whom they want to put the emhasis1
Dear Cara Anna (yes that ‘same’ Cara Anna! Hey Anna long time no see!) titles her story, “Renewed conflict in Ethiopia’s Tigray region said widening” The smart lady’s sort of ‘icing on the cake’ comes in the last paragraph, where she writes, “On social media, many Ethiopians are expressing their support to the government in the latest fighting. But some question Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s administration’s handling of the war, (Emphasis mine) and organizations like the Inter-Religious Council of Ethiopia are calling on both sides to give peace a chance and sit for talks. Calling for peace is something else what oh what in the world has that to do with ‘questions about the handling of war!’ The story couldn’t be complete without casting some doubt on the Ethiopian side. So ‘questions’ about the conduct of war and calls for peace are part of the same sentence connected with “…and…”
Believe me, the media jamboree of trying to paint Ethiopia and Eritrea and the bad kids on the block and the group categorized as terrorist as “the party that stands for regional peace and stability.” Isn’t that what the Rashid Abdi fellow tweeted! By the way how about those people setting up a mixed soccer team so that we can more of their ‘hilarious jokes!’ I’m already laughing! because that’s what they are. ‘Hilarious Jokers!’
Curious, and Confused!
UN Ditches Its Own Rules to Deal with TPLF behind Ethiopia’s Back that is how a local media outlet titled their story on the strange, and maybe strangest, act of the gentleman at the helm of the United nations. No this time it is not anything he said but something he did. He was on the phone with the head of a group the Ethiopian parliament designated as terrorist. we are not talking about some senator with twisted outlook or someone willing would give an arm and a leg to see the destruction of this country; because there many such parties hovering around and all over the place. This country has done to the United Nations things many w never even tried. It has put the lives of its sons and daughters in the most volatile spots as peace keepers. From The Congo, to Korea in the past to a multitude of trouble spots around the globe presently. And it’s over and over betrayed by the same organizations.
But the way maybe the news of his talking was known in a tweet by someone from his inner circle probably unintentionally. What would have happened if he had talked with leaders of parties the ‘powerful’ of the world designated as terrorist! Could you imagine that! If he isn’t out the door by now his remaining term wouldn’t have been a happy one.
I mean going back and recalling events which would have been better forgotten would have been the greatest of blessing. Mulling over yesterday would do nothing to solve the problem of today. But then sometimes you just couldn’t help it!
Now we’d have forgotten the atrocities of marauders of Benito Mussolini and his henchmen. The king was forced into exile and appealed to the then League of Nations in Geneva. His people were being dropped like flies by tons of poison gas rained on them. This is a story of shame to the global community which did nothing to a protect people who have never crossed thee borders and invaded any sovereign states.
«I assert that the issue before the Assembly today is not merely a question of the settlement in the matter of Italian aggression. It is a question of collective security; of the very existence of the League; of the trust placed by states in international treaties; if the value of promises made to small states that their integrity and independence shall be respected and assured… In a word, it is international morality that is at stake…”
That was a small part of what emperor Haile Selassie told the League. What did he get in response? Nothing; absolutely nothing! The so called sanctions on Mussolini’s invaders were just window-dressing and nothing serious; because the invaders continued getting the arms, the oil and everything they needed to continue their genocidal campaign. In the last war in the northern parts of the country UN staff went well beyond the responsibilities entrusted upon them and were practically combatants in their own way with vests and capes with the logo of the UN organizations they were representing. The Ethiopia government did what it should rightly have done, boot them out. The outcry especially from the Western circles was bloodcurdling in that it was so brazen and at times racist! Why should it be right for them to boot out diplomats and professionals of other countries with impunity and no one raising as much of a finger and why should it some kind of a cardinal sin when our country shows the door to pole who were working hand in glove with parties out to destroy the country?
Secretary-General Antonio Gutierrez, who recently talked to someone who over the past several months was threatening Ethiopia and Ethiopians with words sounding to some sort of ‘virtual annihilation,’ was said to have demined explanation from Ethiopia, something seldom heard when UN staff were put on the plane out in other places. One thing he said at that time stands out; he was reported to have said “It is my duty to defend the honor of the United Nations;” That really is a “Wow!” moment. A leader so committed is hard to find these days. We’ve only one question; what was the honorable gentleman doing when he talked with the leader of a group legally designated as TERRORIST by a sovereign country and member of the United Nations? Was it part of “…defending the honor of the United Nations?” Just curious, and confused!
