In a beautiful finish, Letesenbet Gidey clinched gold medal in a new Women World Champion in 10,000m, the first Ethiopia’s gold at the WCHOregon22 in Oregon. Letesenbet Gidey literally kicks to world 10,000m in 30:09.94, according to the World Athletics. Letesenbet defeated Hellen Obiri and Margaret Chelimo Kipkemboi of Kenya in a world-leading time of 30:09.94. After she claimed silver, in Doha 2019, world record-holder Letesenbet Gidey finally won the gold medal final held in July 17, 2022 in the 10,000m.
Tamirat Tola won a gold medal in the men’s marathon at the ongoing WCHOregon2022 in Oregon.
Tamirat clocked 2:05:36. Similarly, after calming the silver medal in London back in 2017, Tamirat Tola concludes a superb effort in the most beautiful possible way. Mosinet Geremew came 2nd and won silver by clocking 2:06:45.
Gotytom Gebreselasie won the women’s marathon at the WCHOregon2022, setting a new Championship record of 2:18:11. Gotytom brings the 3rd gold medal for Ethiopia after Letesenbet Gidey & Tamirat Tola in 10,000 women & in the men’s.
Athletes Gudaf Tsegay & Lemecha Girma each won Silver medals for Ethiopia at the WCHOregon2022. Gudaf won silver
in 1,500 m women, while Lemecha won silver in 3000 m steeplechase men, bringing Ethiopia’s medal count to 6 – 3 Gold and 3 silver to date.

Athletes Werkwuha Getachew at 8:54.61, and Mekides Abebe at 8:56.08 won Silver and Bronze respectively in Women’s 3000m Steeplechase at the WorldAthleticChampionship taking place in Oregon.
Following the success, Derartu Tullu, the former athletics legend and incumbent Chief of the Ethiopian Athletics governing body is praised for her best leadership and handling that enabled Ethiopia to get amazing result in Oregon World Athletics 2022 competition.
