Eritrea, Somalia agree to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various sectors

 ADDIS ABABA – Eritrea and Somalia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that covers bilateral cooperation in various sectors including political, diplomatic, economic, social, cultural, environmental, defense and security.

The MoU was signed today following the conclusion of the four-day official visit of Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and his delegation to Eritrea.

According to the MoU, the two nations agreed to promote relations between their people, including their diaspora communities, and strengthen political and diplomatic cooperation to protect and advance their national interest.

They also agreed to broaden economic and social cooperation with emphasis on trade, investment, water security, agriculture, fisheries, health, and education.

Moreover, they agreed to enhance defense and security cooperation to safeguard peace, stability and security as well as to endeavor jointly to advance cordial relations, cooperation and economic integration in the Horn of Africa.
