State Minister Huria Ali told Xinhua that Ethiopia and China have been cooperating in the digital economy.
Chinese companies are playing an important role in realizing Ethiopia’s digital economic development needs, the Ministry of Innovation and Technology said.
She said giant Chinese companies are introducing advanced telecom technologies to East African countries, including Ethiopia.
“Chinese companies, in collaboration with local companies, are importing advanced technologies to Ethiopia and are helping the country realize its digital economy,” she said.
Ethio-Telecom and the China’s Huawei recently launched a 5-G service in Addis Ababa, she said.
Chinese companies are creating favorable conditions for Ethiopia to meet its digital transformation needs, according to the state minister.
“We have established good relations with Chinese companies,” she added.
According to her, Chinese companies are providing valuable assistance to Ethiopia in its efforts to introduce modern technologies.
She also praised the Chinese companies for their constructive contribution in Ethiopia.
