ADDIS ABABA- Ethiopian Foreign Minister Gedu Andargachew appreciated the commitment of the parties to the full implementation of the South Sudanese peace agreement, while also commending the government’s commitment to provide additional 100 million dollars to support the process.
This, he said, would encourage international partners to provide additional support for the peace process, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated. Gedu, who is also Chairperson of the IGAD Council of Ministers met the President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir yesterday in Juba.
The Foreign Minister briefed the President on the 67th Extraordinary Session of the IGAD Council of Ministers which was concluded Tuesday in Juba. The Minister said the IGAD Council of Ministers endorsed the six months extension of the pre-transition period that all the parties have agreed during their last week’s meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. In connection, Gedu reiterated IGAD’s commitment and that of the Government of Ethiopia to help the peace process move forward.
