First Lady promises to continue constructing schools for disadvantaged

ADDIS ABABA- First Lady Zinash Tayachew renewed her promises to build a number of comprehensive boarding schools for the disadvantaged people on Sunday while laying cornerstone for the construction of a boarding school for visually impaired children in Addis Ababa.

As to the first lady, her office will continue to solicit humanitarian organizations for funds to construct such schools to invest in the younger generation and build a better tomorrow as well as to address the education access in the country.

The fund to build the boarding school has obtained from a humanitarian organization called Ansha based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates

The school will have standardized classrooms, library, dining hall, training centers and playing ground.

Once completed within two years, the boarding school will enroll about 300 visually impaired students from across the country.

Representing the Persons with Disability (PWDs) community Yetnebersh Negussie for her part said that the due attention paid by the First Lady to improve access to education in the country would help to ease generation who can shape their country’s future.

“The measure and attention paid for PWDs by the current government is encouraging and would create a chance to harness the potential of the disadvantaged persons to contribute their share for development endeavors of their country,” she added.
