ADDIS ABABA- Ethio-Turkish venture, Euro Cable Plc inaugurated its new cable factory at Gelan, Oromia state, as per of its expansion project. The cable production plant was built at cost of 40 million USD.
The new factory will increase the production capacity of the company by three folds.
Company General Manager Sead Ebrahim during inaugural ceremony said that the expansion aims to substitute import indicating that the factory will produce up to 12,000 tonns of cables yearly.
“Customers are familiar with Euro cables with its uncompromised high quality products and we are striving to sustain its quality besides expanding production,” he added.
“The opening of this new plant showcases the growing ties between Ethiopia and Turkey and I hope Euro cable will satisfy domestic market and deepen its toe in international market,” said Yaprak Alp, Turkish Ambassador to Ethiopia .
Teka G/Eyesus, State Minister at Ministry of Trade and Industry also expressed that Ethiopian government is committed to collaborate with such companies. Production of expensive and qualified cables like fire resistant cables here in Ethiopia has immense role on construction sector, he said.
Euro-cable plc is the first private enterprise to manufacture electric cables in Ethiopia since 2007.
