The book with the title; “The Betrayed Northern Command” was launched last weekend.
The book was authored by Gashaye Tenaw (Sergeant).
No author can write being caught at the hands of an enemy, but the author of the book “The Betrayed Northern Command” Gashaye Tenaw (Sergeant) has made it possible, during the book launching event Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed praised the author.
During that time of distress, the PM noted, it is amazing that sergeant Gashaye, was recording things in his diary, while the army was under attack in the Tigray region.
The book, The Deprived Northern Command was not only the author ‘s personal story but also the story of all of us, he said, the brave author narrates what he saw and heard with his eyes in a great language agility.
“Picking up a pen the author and narrates the truth in a remarkable way.”
At this stage, he said, the readers are more fortunate than the writers when people who are part of making history are found to be writers.
PM Abiy said many of the world’s most remarkable books chalk up to military offices, and the author from the Ethiopian army is advised that he should press ahead with such literature works.
“If a soldier doesn’t equally know the enemy as he knows himself, he won‘t prevail; ignorance, and hate, as the PM explained are enemies’ plans to pummel us from outside and divide us from within, we have to go beyond and unite,” the PM conveyed his message.”
Gashaye Tenaw (Sergeant), who authored the book, was a member of the Northern Command of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces when the attack on Nov 4, 2020 on the Northern Command was carried out. The book narrates the unfolding and the gruesome experiences of members of the defense forces who were “kidnapped” by TPLF militants.
The author has previously authored books entitled; “Ethiopia Timut,” in which he presented a collection of poems and another book titled “The Liar” a novel about “the corrupt practices in the army.
The inauguration of “The Betrayed Northern Command” book was attended by retired and active military generals and senior government officials.
