
ADDIS ABABA—Ethiopian Professional Association of Accountants and Auditors (EPAAA) said it is working on making Ethiopia the member of International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).
EPAAA President Yohaness Nigatu told The Ethiopian Press Agency (EPA) that the association is toiling to be the member of IFAC and it’s on the verge of success to get various benefits for its members and the nation itself. “We have nearly accomplished the criteria to be the member and to get the international recognition in such professions. It will take us in a year.”
The association recently celebrated its 50th year anniversary, held annual general meeting in the presence of government officials and presented its future the plan.
According to him, being a member of IFAC is of significantly useful in reinvigorating business opportunities for Ethiopia as well as the professionals themselves. It has also provided members with a year-round schedule of meetings, seminars and webinars by which they can share colossal ideas using regular networking, best practices wherever they are. They can also exchange technical and business know-how as well as solve challenges together.
“Not only can accounting and auditing professionals assess quantity and quantity but they also do feasibility study on business work, future achievement as well as forecast the future business existence as it has provided members with consecutive professional development training regarding in asset valuation, stock market, tax law and performance auditing,” he noted.
As to him, the association has so far 1,404 authorized accountants, charter certified accountants, associated accountants’ members and is working to create fair, clear financial institutions.
He noted the association is working together with Ministry of Revenue to well consolidate such lucrative professions.
