ADDIS ABABA– Ethiopian Federal Police Commissioner announced that it will start DNA test next month.
Federal Police Commissioner Gen. Demelash Gebremichael said that the commission has imported new machineries used for forensic investigation and is now using them. In its ten year strategic plan, the commission is working to be among the top five African police commissions with better services. Accordingly, the commencement of the DNA test is part of the reform process thereby modernizing the services of the institution using up-to-date technologies.
Previously, the DNA test was being made by sending samples to other countries and launching the DNA test at local level will have significant benefit in saving time, money and avoiding other related ups and downs.
Furthermore, the commission launched new structure so as to provide citizens with effective services throughout the country and protect the safety and security of the growing aviation sector and railway transport services. Likewise, the new structure is focusing on Universities, tourism and industries, he said.
The commission has the objective of maintaining and ensuring peace and security of the public and the state by respecting and ensuring constitutional order of the country via investigating crime. It is working to make itself the best institutions in the country with better serving tools locally and continentally, he indicated.
