Religious leaders offer messages of love,peace and unity

ADDIS ABABA- During today’s Easter benedictions, religious leaders called on the faithful to work towards promoting peace, love and unity by forgiving each other.

Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahdo Church Patriarch Abune Mathias said “Jesus’s death and resurrection teach us that we can win everything with the law of God that preaches about love, unity, peace and the like .’’

He also urged all Ethiopians to celebrate Easter helping the needy fellow citizens and reconciling those who are at odds

On the occasion, Abune Mathias wished for ever lasting peace and prosperity for the country and all humankind on the earth.

For his part, Ethiopian Catholic Church Archbishop Cardinal Berhaneyesus Demerew Souraphiel said “As to our God wins death and resurrection; we need to start new life with being free from sin, bad thought and bad job. It needs to have peace

 and understandable situation among all our citizens.”

“It is expected to have forgiven heart to live our given life with happiness and love. And also we need to live on the ground the forgiveness spirit which gives us assets in front of God and human beings,” he added.

The Archbishop of Roma’s Catholic Church teaches the whole world that humbleness through kissing south Sudan’s political leaders shoes, he said adding: “We all religious institutions need to pray for achieving our responsibility with reconciliation commission which has been recently formed with a view to ensuring peace across the nation.”

Priest Yonas Yigezu President for Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekaneyesus also wished peaceful Easter for every citizen.

Taking the opportunity, he called on the faithful to maintain the wind of hope that is now blowing in the country refraining from all forms of social evils.

“Ethiopia belongs to all Ethiopians; we need to live together putting aside our differences. We need to be God- fearing people like our fathers and mothers.”

Pastor Tsadiku Abido, President of Ethiopian Evangelical Church Fellowship, said: “Jesus’s death has taught us what true love is. It also makes us to understand that true love will never be defeated.”

In connection with the day, he called on all Ethiopians to teach youth about peace and love and to work harder in order to pass down great nation to the posterity.
