ADDIS ABABA– Currently there is no political leader or people who stand against the interest of the Tigray people and the TPLF remains the sole adversary of the people whom it claims to stand for, Ethiopian diplomat said.
Recalling Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s great efforts to ensure all Ethiopians to work for common good, Ethiopian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Lencho Bati told the Ethiopian Press Agency (EPA) that TPLF’s refusal to peace made the Tigray people to pay a heavy price. Conversely, most of the contending political parties and individuals expressed desire to work with the Ethiopian government.
“In addition to the immense looting and destruction of the country’s property for 27 years, TPLF has committed heinous atrocities on civilians and destroyed essential infrastructures as well as planning and executing conspiracies. Due to the faction’s endless thirst for power, the Tigray people suffered greatly.
If TPLF leaders play a constructive role towards resolving conflict and shun provocation, it would bring a great relief for the people of Tigray and the former should be careful enough not to repeat previous miscalculations. Peace seeking benefits Ethiopians in general and the people of Tigray in particular. It is impossible to continue with these wrong attitudes or bitter thoughts in Ethiopia in the future.”
Ambassador Lencho called on all political actors including the TPLF to play their part for the successful conduct of the National Dialogue. There is no more conducive environment for national dialogue than this in Ethiopia’s history.
