CROSS EXAMINING

BY ALEM HAILU G/KRISTOS

( An interviewee with TPLF Leader)

We have stopped short of

Medical supply

Ailing, starving children cry

Many, including lactating

Mothers, from lacerating pain die

Yet, the incumbent treats us

With a smile wry!

N.B as WHO’s

Director General puts it

We, bald-facedly, deserve

All of

The medicinal supply pie.

(The interviewing Investigative journalist)

Recently, in your

Party’s anniversary

In a way health-risky

You were seen

Taking bath with whisky

In a debauchery

 Down with vice lechery.

How and why

Why, why and why

You indulge in

Costly drunken orgies

If medicines,

As you claim, prove

In short supply?

(The TPLF Leader)

Is that paradoxical?

If beer, from

Neighboring states

Which we provoke,

Get we cannot

Whisky and opium

We have to import!

Otherwise, win

How can we

An unjust war

Dawned to you

The import?

Also Like the born-liar CNN

 How could we

Dish out a fake report?

(A viewer’s remark)

Paradoxical

 Your speech,

A window to your soul,

“Here is a fabulous fiber”

The audience does teach!

How and why African Union Summit Conference was conducted

 BY JOSEPH SOBOKA

The planes carrying the leaders

Landing every now and then

Shouting people and flag bearers

Coming out were the great men.

Such was how they were hosted

They flocked into the blissful area,

Flowers allover and pictures posted

Made their stay filled with euphoria.

The national anthems blaring

The guests were excitedly staring.

Welcoming voices shouted

Everywhere hands clapped.

The shifting of the feet

The rambling of trailers,

As vehicles in the street

Hasten travelers and farers.

As they came out through the door

They hugged as if they had met before.

Arrayed in ceremonial robes along their path

Artists performed the cultural dances,

To eternally extinguish adversary’s fiery wrath

Melodious tune, the enemy, it harasses.

Africa says, please get up with me

Things are not as they used to be.

Not for nothing that the conference was held

But shapes Africa’s future and its fragments to weld.

Bring the scattered pieces together

Make them one, stronger and better.

The enlightened leaders

Imbued with such noble plan,

Unreservedly pledged

And do as much as they can.

 Those were the very things

The host country earnestly aspires,

Enhance development

Bring lasting peace on a dove that flies.

Assured the guests of man-made beauty spark

Evening exciting event held at Friendship Park.

Ethiopia played an admirable critical role

Thwarted dividing scheme; brought it to a stole.

Africans may not know how and why

But will understand it more by-and-by.

It is high level citizen diplomacy

That exhibited essence and efficiency.

We proved ‘continental is local’

Affect a purpose in convincing vocal.

Africa blessed by God of eternity

Yet, she’s submerged in dire poverty.

Still disarrayed by lack of lasting security

She strives for lasting peace and prosperity.

But a new day is dawning

The reason why leaders gather

Set pragmatic strategies ever

To one another they’re drawing.

Ethiopia has offered the best chance

She facilitated Africa’s plan to enhance.

In haste, Africans forward they rush

And break the chains of colonial hush.

Ethiopia provided support during the entire program

She assured tight security to crash adversary’s sham.

With relaxed spirit while conducting the meetings

They spiced it with formality and friendly

 greetings.

Racing through their harsh and bitter history

They convened to interpret colonial mystery.

Suppressed was their voice

They had no other choice.

They were perennially dictated

Their inept misery perpetuated.

Emergency assistance blurred their sight

Which they believed was their only right.

There ought to be much more than that

Not at this late hour but right from the start.

Now they struggle to be heard clearly

Force out their truths gently and fairly.

Creating African voice through international media

The great idea suggested by the leader of Ethiopia.

It is a must and to be given a priority

We will ward off the fake news’ absurdity.

Tell about Africa in truth and sincerity

Prove Africa’s heart-felt political purity.

Africa, bent on fighting with impunity

And supplanted hunger by food security.

Do away with malnutrition and all the rest

Feed adults and children with what’s best.

Within two days’ time of conference commitment

Many topics were addressed for Africa’s betterment.

Little left out as exchange of courtesies

Much pleased representatives of countries.

That’s how and why the conference went on.

Now they thankfully to their countries gone.

 Is confidence something real?

 BY SENAIT GEBREHEIWOT

When you think of yourself as confident you will always be susceptible to get insecure.

As long as you think of yourself as smart if others don’t agree with it… you lose your confidence.

If you think you are important and if others imply that you are not … you lose your confidence.

So confidence isn’t something real …. it is fragile and always needs affirmation and confirmation from others.

This is not an enjoyable way to live… by always convincing yourself of

 something that is imaginary

Therefore, the ideal way to live is just by letting yourself free from all these conditioning and be ok with whoever you truly are.

You are enough for just existing.
