KOBO – Ethnic-Tigrayan youths, who fled Tigray to the Amhara, claimed that the terrorist TPLF group has been feeding its armed forces with food aid sent for the needy and selling the rest to traders and starving the people of Tigray.
The youths, who were interviewed by the Ethiopian Press Agency (EPA), said that
food and medicine are entering Tigray by plane and trucks, added that, however, instead of distributing the aid to the needy, it is being sold to private companies.
Mehari Abraha, resident of Adigrat, stated that when the Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) was in Tigray, the people of Tigray benefited greatly from the assistance provided to the state. But now the people are being forced by the terrorist group to bring grain and money, he added.
“Airplanes travel to Tigray twice a day with aid supplies; trucks also enter to the state via Afar with large quantities of food aid. But, the people do not know where the aid is going,” he explained.
He mentioned that, in the past parents who sent their children to war was getting food aid, he said, adding that, but now the food aid entered to Tigray is being sold to private
warehouses and, the terrorist group feeds the rest of the food aid to its soldiers.
As to him, there are no medicine at public health facilities in the state as the medicine and medical equipment entered to Tigray are also being sold to private pharmacies.
Surprisingly, the international organizations, under the leadership of WHO Chief Tedros Adhanom (PhD), are shouting that food aid and medicine are not entering to Tigray, he further stated. Before shouting, they should ask who is using the food aid and medicine, he urged.
Mehari insisted that the international community must understand that the people of Tigray are starving to death by the terrorist TPLF group.
“We are clearly seeing the positive attitude of the Ethiopian people and government towards the people of Tigray. It is the people of Amhara who are taking care of the people entered to Amhara state,” he indicated.
For his part, Biniam Araya, a resident of Adi Gudom, says he had applied for food assistance more than three times in his hometown, but he
never get any aid.
He also said that trucks and airplanes are entering the state with food aid and medicine, but the people of Tigray have not benefited from the aid.
In addition to using the food aid and medicine for war, the terrorist TPLF group has been looting food from farmers, so said Selamawit Kahsay (renamed), a resident of Adigrat.
Given the TPLF’s brutal nature, she said she would not be surprised if it committed even worse atrocities.
