Ministry expresses readiness to fully operate Ethio-Eritrea transport services

ADDIS ABABA (ENA)- The preparation to fully utilize transport services between Ethiopia and Eritrea is finalized and the country is ready to launch actual operation, Transport Minister Dagmawit revealed. Presenting performance report of the ministry to the House of People’s Representatives (HPR), Transport Minister Dagmawit Moges said her ministry is only waiting decision of the two governments to launch the actual activity.

 Various protocols related activities expected from the ministry were submitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she added. “So, we have completed everything and are waiting the decisions of the two countries,” the minister stated. The Ethio-Eritrea transport services proposal is aimed at strengthening the people-to-people relationship and the Ethio-Eritrea bondage in general.

 Praising the progress in this regard, HPR Law, Justice and Democracy Standing Committee urged the ministry to enter into action and implement the transport services and respond to the increasing demand. Leaders of Ethiopia and Eritrea agreed to resume land and air transport links plus phone services on July 9, 2018 after they have been closed for a long period.
