59 suspects of grand corruption, terrorist attack to face justice

ADDIS ABABA-The Attorney General announced that nearly 60 individuals have been arrested, on suspicion of terrorism and those linked to grand corruption in four different government institutions.

Briefing journalists here yesterday, Attorney General Berhanu Tsegaye said that regarding the crimes against government institutions and projects, serious investigations were conducted in the past three months. The investigation revealed the loss of public money in which government officials, experts and investors were involved in the crime, he added.

Meanwhile, Berhanu said the government is relentlessly working to safeguard the peace and security of citizens.

As to him, suspected terrorists who were engaged in planning and preparing for attacks combining with international terrorist groups were  arrested by the security forces. The suspects were arrested while they were on process of identifying and photographing target areas, planning strategies and tactics.

Berhanu noted that legal actions are being taken in all corners of the country to protect peace and security and control suspected criminals.

According to him, the government is working to widen the political landscape, modernize the culture of democracy and strengthen the ongoing reform.

To strengthen peace and security, proclamations are being prepared to prohibit arm trafficking, and spreading hate speech and disinformation, he disclosed.
