“Come let us have coffee together for peace”

Ethiopia was so busy warmly celebrating the 13th Nation,Nationalities and Peoples day this week. This week was the final week that consummated similar events held across Addis Ababa and states.

Ethiopian coffee ceremony is well known globally. Very recently, thousands of people have poured into the Meskele square to attend the first big coffee ceremony held with the theme “Come have coffee together for peace!” The event was part of Nation,Nationalities and Peoples day celebration.

The higher government officials, representatives of Nations, Nationalities and Peoples, religious leaders, Oromo community leaders (Abagedas) and elders were in attendance on the event, organized to drink coffee together and discus about nation’s unity and peace.

 

About 76 tents were set up for the coffee ceremony and women attired well with a broad-range of costumes that represent the Nation and Nationalities and peoples of Ethiopia were presided over the coffee ceremony lending the event graces.

 

Representatives from different ethnic groups were marking the event ebullient.

Dr. Solomon Kidane, Deputy Mayor of Economic Cluster Coordinator and Addis Ababa city Administration Road Transport Office Director, addressing celebrants, said “ The Almighty loves Ethiopia, that is why we have motley colors, cultures, languages and songs. Addis Ababa, accommodating citizens hailing from all ethnic groups and beyond, is a model Ethiopia.

Approached by Ethiopian Press Agency journalists Ayinalem Hailu, who was preparing coffee in one of the tents, said “I count myself lucky to partake in the event, which will remain indelibly printed in my heart forever.
