TEA to process food from algae

ADDIS ABABA- Tiruzer Ethiopia for Africa (TEA) announced yesterday that Ethiopia is to produce spirulina (super food/blue-green algae) soon after gaining legal certification.

TEA Founder and Executive Director Yonas Mamo told journalists that the procedure to legalize production of spirulina is on pipeline. Researches have been conducted by Addis Ababa University food science experts and confirmed that the blue-green algae is the most valuable nutritional food and has no environmental negative impact.

One gram of Spirulina has a power of supersede nutrition which child losses within a weak. Adding the blue-green algae consumes high amount of CO2 which makes it preferable to environmental protection, he noted.

Spirulina Research Training and Humanitarian Feeding Center also strived to introduce the it throughout the nation as to him.

Ethiopia is among the nations which are not signed the Intergovernmental Institution for the Use of Micro Algae Spirulina against malnutrition though is paying 5.5 billion Birr per year to lessen malnutrition that covers over 16% of the total budget.
