Just listen to the rhetoric of the past several days. Especially, a top official said that they’ll to “bury Ethiopians.” Hey, anybody home? A few weeks back an Ethiopian citizen’s comments were wrongly interpreted and he was accused of inciting hatred and an official statement issued! And now a top official publicly threatens in no uncertain terms to “bury Ethiopians’” and not a single eyebrow blinks over there! Had it not been for what that has been transpiring over the past several months I’d have pleaded with those in the know to unravel the riddle to me. No more! When the country is being pounded form all sides, innocents killed and maimed in their hundreds and whole villages razed the silence is complete. And never forget the almost daily statements from the other side of victories, of pushing deeper into Ethiopia, on moving closer to Addis and not a word!
But when the country starts pushing back it is virtual pandemonium. The statements, ‘concerns,’ and the eventually ‘threats’ rain down. How are we supposed to think otherwise?
You hear theme talking about their ‘concern’ about people starving, which is the most humane of concerns as long as it is genuine. Now they are talking about taking Ethiopia of the list of AGOA beneficiaries; snatching away the plates from the diner tables of hundreds of thousands and their dependents. If that’s not using starvation as a weapon, what is? Or is it the proverbial ‘children’ and ‘step children’ approach?
We’re not speaking here about people who have been misled. We are talking about outright evil people. People who’ve for their own discreet reasons have decided to chip away at the very cornerstones on which this country rests; People who are in it for their personal or group interests and; People, who are in it because of their racist genes which don’t give them comfort when people of color stand up to bullying by those in the big leagues; People who are showing no hesitation to roll over truth a thousand and one times. Unfortunately, when it comes to our situation truth is in a very precarious condition; no denying they’ve put the noose around its neck.
The fact is ‘the curve balls’ have stopped. Sorry the term ‘curve balls’ no more applies in this part of the world. We’ve become so accustomed to their ways nothing is any more surprising. Nothing, and I’m saying NOTHING would surprise us.
When supposedly ‘thinking’ people with their machine upstairs ‘intact’ fail to listen to reason, it makes no sense to hope otherwise. I mean when such a massive international organization removes its staff for speaking the truth you can’t help asking yourself, “How come we’ve been for so long!” “How come we took every ‘negative’ comment about such organizations as the work of idle minds that are after their fifteen seconds of fame?” Which country has been stabbed in the back so continuously and, yes, so viciously for being a front row advocate of peace and brotherhood, for putting its sons and daughters in harms to ensure peace in troubled spots?
Look what’s happening to us now; the very institutions and nations on whose side we have always stood despite being treated wrongly over and again seem to be ganging up against us. Did we put the territorial integrity of other nations in danger? Did we claim something that’s not ours? No! Did we give shelter to terrorists? No! In fact, few countries have shown such commitments to fight terrorism in all its forms like Ethiopia did! So, what is the real reason behind all the negative campaign just because we’re trying to uphold the territorial integrity of this ancient nation and the well-being of its people? Others cross borders, and continents, and oceans, and seas on the pretext of protecting their citizens and we can’t do that in our own land?
What’s going on here? Why are those people turning their backs on the realities on the ground? What actually is going on behind closed doors? Because we don’t have to be blessed with some seventh sense to realize many things are being hatched behind closed doors. Had it not been the case why would they continue to fall to blatantly false narratives while the real things are playing out in the open? Why do those we have been helping, those on whose side we’ve stood in rain and shine for so long without any reservations now act as turncoats of the foulest kind? Believe me the time when the world which has been denied the real picture by politicians driven by self-interest and sections of the so-called western media corrupt in more ways than one will wake up to the whole picture and truth would once again enjoy unhindered sunshine.
“Your honor, what are we talking about here?”
“We’re talking about all your misdeeds.”
“What misdeeds? But your honor, we’re the victims here. Misdeeds were against us…”
“Enough! If they say you’re the one who committed misdeeds then it’s you.”
“Your honor I want to appear before another judge.”
“Ha! Ha! Ha!”
“Your honor, please slow down.”
“Why should I? Ha! Ha! Ha!”
You might chock and we’ll be the ones to take the blame!”
