Adding value to the economy via technology

ADDIS ABABA- The use of technology for the growing economy of the country is not something fancy. Nations that applied technological innovation has made their life easy and smooth.

Technology Innovation, Director General, Sandokan Debebe said that there is a traditional thought among the society that technological innovation is only to the developed world and there is wrong interpretation that innovation is always creating something new.

However, innovation is all about making life easy by adding value on what is already invented.

Speaking at the farewell ceremony of Robo Robotics and Innovation First Ethiopia Students to the Canada for Robot programming competition, the Director said, Ethiopian economy needs more technicians that have a capacity to support the industrial and the manufacturing sector.

 He said, technological innovations are not limited concepts. They have great role in the good governance as well. “Whenever the nation applies technologies, corruption and other related maladministration can easily be detected and controlled through digital technology. In this respect, Ethiopia needs more programmers and more Robot technicians.”

 Robo Robotics founder and Manager Senay Mekonnen on his part said that in the ever growing economy, the role of innovation is unquestionable. He said that, those students who would be competing in Canada are the futures of Ethiopia. “Their role might not be visible now. However, if they are given opportunities they are all the capabilities to be the future Ethiopian programmers, technicians and engineers.”

 In exclusive interview with The Ethiopian Herald, Robo Robotics and Innovation First Ethiopia students said, if they have the opportunity nothing can prevent them from competing with others.
