From the beginning of claiming power, the terrorist Tigray People Liberation Front (TPLF) has been working day and night with the Ethiopian enemies and other terrorist groups aimed at causing grand economic damages to the motherland. It is estimated that the terrorist TPLF caused many trillions dollar of economic losses in the country. During its stay in power, the terrorist group flees trillions of dollar value Ethiopian treasure to its associates abroad.
The terrorist group and its members had never hesitated to sell the country’s territory. All the infrastructures that had been built during its stay in power were below standard and highly exposed to grand corruptions. It is not forgotten that the terrorist group had bought and imported sand and soil in the name of sugar and wheat bid from abroad.
The former TPLF’s head and late Prime Minister Meles Zenawi, when in power boldly recognized theft and robbery saying: “Theft is a good job unless you are detained.” Imagine how much such a speech will damage and lead a country towards sophisticated crime and instability. All the corrupted upper and lower officials during the leadership of Meles Zenawi were feeling free to steal from the country’s budget that was collected from the poor farmer’s pocket.
The terrorist leaders are free to enjoy the country’s budget and kill innocent civilians without any crime. They have sent millions of innocent citizens to prison including innocent traders, civil servants, farmers, students, journalists, intellectuals, politicians, artists, human rights defenders, among others. They established an unfair trade system by orchestrating various fake accusations against the innocent Merkato wholesalers.
Beyond politics, the Tigrayan ethnicities dominated the economy with the help of the terrorist group in power for the past 27 years. It is to be recalled that the TPLF itself mobilized huge money inside and outside the country through undertaking conglomerated business. The TPLF and its agents had been actively engaged in dealing vehicles, exporting coffee, and smuggling the country’s resources illegally.
Currently, its remnants and allies worldwide are also working day and night towards sabotaging the country’s economy.
Recently for instance, Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) announced that the terrorist TPLF remnants have damaged over half a billion Birr worth of electricity infrastructure within the past months. The total damage amount exceeds billions when the damage on the telecom, electricity, roads, airports, water supply, among other infrastructures is accumulated.
EEP Communication Director, Moges Mekonnen told The Ethiopian Herald that the terrorist TPLF remnants are engaged in damaging infrastructure especially electricity lines in Tigray State.
According to him, the terrorist group purposively targeted grand damages on infrastructures aimed at isolating the Tigray people from the Ethiopian government. The terrorist group members, activists, and apologists intentionally disseminate fake information about the damaged infrastructure to confuse the Tigray people and the international community.
From the beginning, the terrorist group damaged electric sub-stations, conductors, towers, insulators, and other EEP properties in November 2020 that caused 70 million Birr damages on electricity infrastructure only.
The Ethiopian Electric Power has done immediate maintenance on the electric transmission lines to Tigray with an outlay of 240.2 million Birr after the first attack on the Ethiopian National Defence Forces (ENDF) to access all Tigray people with electricity. However, the terrorist group has managed to damage the renewed transmission lines again and caused further destruction The terrorist group has exposed EEP for 240.2 million Birr cost of electric lines rehabilitation to reach electricity to the Tigray people.
In addition, the country has lost more than 245 million KWH of energy (146.2 million Birr) following the TPLF’s attack on the Tekeze Dam power transmission lines to the national grid.
Moreover, the terrorist remnant damaged the Wolkait and Humera substations that are still out of service due to the need for sophisticated materials to be imported from abroad for rehabilitation.
Every infrastructure that interconnects Tigray with the rest of the country is damaged by the terrorist group. Telecom, air and road transport, and electricity are damaged before launching an attack on the Northern Command of the ENDF.
“The immense damage caused by the terrorist TPLF has seriously hampered the institution’s plan of expanding electricity supply to the unreached areas of the country and undertaking further infrastructural interconnections during the previous Ethiopian budget year. The TPLF Juntas exposed the Tigray people to severe socio-economic trauma emanating from lack of energy,” he remarked.
Different experts said that grand economic damages have occurred on the national economy since the terrorist group launched attack against the Northern Command of the ENDF. The terrorist group has caused immeasurable direct economic destruction through the physical destruction of infrastructures. The terrorist group destroyed existing plants, machines, transportation systems, workers, and other economic resources.
As to the experts, the other damage to the economy causes increased uncertainty in the markets. “Even if you do not live anywhere near to areas under the terrorist’s attacks, you might still be negatively impacted indirectly. This is because all kinds of markets hate uncertainty, and terrorism creates a lot of it. The price of food and non-food items is skyrocketing in the country following the market uncertainty. The price of goods in Addis Ababa continues to hike as the terrorist group continues the war on peace. The life of individuals becomes unmanageable and unpredictable following the unrest,” the experts stated.
Accordingly, the existence of the terrorist TPLF remnant highly affected the country’s trade, tourism, and FDI. There are two obvious industries especially vulnerable to the effects of terrorism; insurance and tourism.
Winning all the orchestrated social, political, and economic evil acts of the terrorist group and its allies will resolve the country’s economy and return citizens’ life to normal, they stressed.
