Premier pledges to campaign for credible elections

ADDIS ABABA – “The incumbent will do everything in its power to ensure a credible electoral process in the upcoming general elections and also ready to handover the state power for the elected party within 24 hours,” Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said.

Closing the two-day ‘Addis Weg’ forum officially on Saturday, the premier further said whosoever wins the next general elections, it will be a victory of all Ethiopians, however, he underlined the need for restraining oneself from getting involved in any futile attempts aimed at derailing the ongoing sweep reforms.

“Those individuals who wish to assume power undemocratically will be held accountable by law and face hard resistance from the general public and the government.” Regarding the manifestations of the country’s political breakages, he pointed out that being self centered politician, activist at the expense of other professions and extremist.

He also said fail to deliver a given duty, to make linkages between past, present and future, to recognize past major achievements and lack of mainstream and social media ethics are the shortcomeings in this end. He concluded by asserting that one of the administration’s commitments is rooted in ensuring a true electoral democracy and creating a conducive environment for it.
