Dr. Aregawi Berhe is a former member and Founder of TPLF. After a while he left the group due to his disagreement with the actions and intentions of TPLF. As a result he was forced to be exiled and waged a struggle from abroad until 2018. Dr. Aregawi Berhe, is not Director General of the Office of the National Council for the Coordination of Public Participation to the Construction of GERD He is a writer of A Political History of the Tigray People’s Liberation Front. During his interview with The Ethiopian Herald, Dr. Aregawi Berhe, has explained the nature and the behaviors of TPLF as Irresponsible and works for the disintegration of Ethiopia. He explains more about the current intention of terrorist TPLF. Have a nice read:
As we know TPLF has been blocking humanitarian aid and assistance that has been given for the people of Tigray. Why do you think does the terrorist junta reject the government’s unilateral ceasefire agreement and blocks aid agencies not to address humanitarian assistances?
Well in this regard there are many problems. The people of Tigray has been misunderstood and the public also did not understand the structure of TPLF. Because there are individuals who present the people of Tigray as the arc supporters of terrorist Junta TPLF. This complicates the situation on the ground. Because the law enforcement operation that has been taken by the government over the junta has been considered as the attack of the people of Tigray.
In fact, the youth of Tigray have been confused by the propaganda which is released by the terrorist Junta. But one thing that must be clear is that the junta has never favored or taken necessary measures for the good of the people. The TPLF’s primary and biggest aim is oppressing and harassing the people of Tigray. That is why they blocked aid and started creating obstacles for those agencies that provide humanitarian assistance. Hence, their primary objectives are not fulfilling basic consumptions, electricity or other infrastructure. They rather torture the people of Tigray while they are making their life comfortable.
From the history of TPLF one can understand that TPLF had been using aids that had been given to the people into its military purposes when they fight with Derg. Do you think the TPLF has changed this mind now?
The terrorist junta TPLF has never changed its mind let alone today even during their stay on power for the past 27 years. So, it is true that the TPLF has blocked the Afar transits corridors and forced those trucks to stop there. This is intentional and the junta has different reasons. Frist, from the history of TPLF one can understand that TPLF is famous for using aid for its war purposes, second the TPLF wants to oppress the people of Tigray who are not in their terrorist activities.
Here, the people of Ethiopia must understand the way the terrorist junta TPLF has been operating. Ethiopians must collaborate and stand together to get rid of the TPLF junta. Accordingly, not only the people of Tigray but Ethiopians also get relief. Because approaching and working with the people would create obstacles for junta TPLF terrorist not to move one step forward. In this way we can isolate the TPLF from the people of Tigray.
What is the intention of TPLF?
The main purpose of TPLF is seceding the Tigray region and subversion of the nation. That is why they have been working for the instability of the nation. They don’t want to see peaceful and developed Ethiopia rather
So, the people of Ethiopia must collaborate and cooperate with those people who would like to work the unity and solidarity of the country. This as a return help the people of Tigray.
However, the government of Ethiopia announced the free movement of aid and relief provider agencies but disagreements has been observed. Even aid and relief agencies put different preconditions which doesn’t go along with the principle of Ethiopian government. What do you think is the disagreement between the Government of Ethiopia and the Aid Agencies?
As we know the foreigners have been working with TPLF terrorist Junta and conspiring over Ethiopia for the last 27 years. For instance, during TPLF led regime, they have given a testimony for the Ethiopia’s five or something general elections as fair and democratic. They have been also robbing and looting Ethiopia. So, the main reason is that they want to bring TPLF back into power. That is why they are giving briefings, unimportant reasons and pretexts which supports the terrorist junta TPLF. They are working also to put pressure on the government of Ethiopia to open humanitarian relief corridors and the like.
Hence, the government is expected to do a lot, not the aid Agencies since the people of Tigray is part of Ethiopia. Because the people of Tigray is living under horrible situation. So, first, the people should work to isolate and detach themselves from the terrorist junta TPLF. Second, it is important to work with the people of Tigray no to be affected or hurt in the process of isolating the terrorist junta TPLF. So, the government must work with the concerned bodies, especially, with those who are willing to collaborate with the government, those political parties that support unity and solidarity, peace and stability in Tigray.
Moreover, the government must follow, expect to design or prepare strong guide lines which control and check those aid agencies. Because those aid agencies in the name of aid may import or supply irrelevant things including smuggled weapons. Moreover, they also import some important items to the Junta. Therefore, by taking those all facts into consideration the government must continue the strong measures that have started against those aid agencies.
After the government declared unilateral ceasefire for the common good of the Tigray people, the terrorist junta TPLF wants to fight and continue its provocations the people of the Amhara and Afar regions around border areas. Many believe that this will affect the efforts to bring peace, the time given to farmers to farm their land. So what do you think are the reasons?
Well, it is important to understand the nature and the behavers of terrorist junta TPLF. It is also important to ask what does this terrorist junta TPLF look for. It is also important to put forward realist and strong answer. Because what they want is: first, at any cost they want to repeat what has been doing for the last 27 years by assuming power again. They also want to continue their past deeds such as looting, controlling and oppressing the people. So, their wish is to oppress again the people of Ethiopia as it used to be.
Therefore, the people of Ethiopia must unite to abort the wish or nightmare of the TPLF. Because if their wish to rule Ethiopia is not successful, they want to secede the region of Tigray. That is why they have been working for it.
So, our collaborative efforts are highly needed so as to change their wish into nightmare. Especially, the collaboration of those who need unity, peace, change in Ethiopia should closely work for the solidarity and unity of the nation. The government is also taking the support of the people into grants, should order the Federal police and National Defense Forces must stop the provocation of the TPLF.
The terrorist junta TPLF has been massacring and torturing the Eritrean refuges in Tigray region. What is your comment on this?
Like I said before, it is better to understand the nature and behavior of TPLF. The massacring and torturing of terrorist junta TPLF on Eritrean refuges show that its irresponsibility. Let alone massacring and torturing, treating and abusing of refuges is internationally condemned. It is also condemned by the UNHCR because regardless of everything, any refugee has a right to be kept safe and protected. Even they need maximum care and treatment since they have left their home land due to different reasons.
So, what is happening on the Eritrean refuges by the territories TPLF is highly condemned since it violates the natural rights of the refuges. Moreover, the Eritrean refuges are our brothers and sisters. So, in every aspect the actions of the TPLF against Eritrean refugees should be condemned.
