The number of tourists visiting Ethiopia is snowballing. During the past six months, the nation has managed to collect about 1.5 billion USD from 380,376 foreign tourists, disclosed Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Gezahegn Abate, Director of Public and International Relation within the Ministry told to EPA’s journalists that within the half fiscal year, the country has witnessed a better tourism inflow than ever before.
He noted that the aforementioned hard currency was generated only from tourists who came to visit the country.
As part of furthering benefits, the Ministry has been working on developing tourist destination areas, lauding service-giver organizations to render quality services and streamlining the activities of different governmental organizations and promoting tourism strongly, Gezahegn noted.
The director said that his ministry is working hard to develop the tourism sector so that it could have more role in the economic sector.
Nowadays, there are more than 560 tour-guide organizations and hotels engaged in a tourism business. and it is not hard to surmise how the push is creating job opportunities, he concluded.
