ADDIS ABABA-The Ethiopian government has vowed to solve the problem of displaced people in Gedeo Zone. In her press briefing yestarday, Peace Minister Muferiyat Kamil dismissed media allegations which assert displaced Gedio people are dying of malnourishment daily. She added that the images being shared on social media have no connection with malnourishment and the task force established to undertake activities related with the issue is working to support those who are in need of assistance.
‘‘The newly formed medical team is taking unwell people to health centers. Those allegations being dished out as if the displaced were deprived of humanitarian assistance for eight months are far from the truth. The government has been striving to deliver necessary provision for those in need,’’ she emphasized.
However, she pointed out that there was mismanagement in distributing the provisions and this would be addressed. Both the federal and the SNNPR government have set to resolve problems of internal displacement in a sustainable way.
