ADDIS ABABA – The Central Statistics Agency (CSA) said has launched a month-long nationwide data collection on gender issues as of Monday.
CSA Director General Biratu Yigezu told The Ethiopian Herald that a study that would indicate women’s role in the economy as well as gender gap in overall activities.
As to the Director, gathering information will enable to know the status of women in the economy, the differences between men and men as well as women’s decision-making level. He urged the public to cooperate by providing information to the data collectors who are already deployed by the agency.
According to him, professionals or data collectors have been assigned in rural areas, cities and all over the country. “Our social development status is limited due to women participation limitation.
Currently, the government is focusing on alleviating the problem and formulating different policies to make women equal participants in social, economic, trade, employment, education and all other sectors.”
These all sectors or development activities should be supported by data or information to further expand the economic development efforts, he said. The Ethiopian Herald March 9/2021
