State Minister Ambassador Redwan Hussein, met with Andrei Klimov, Senator of the Russian Federation and Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, Mininistry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia (MoFA) disclosed.
According to documents from MoFA’s social Media, Ambassador Redwan has accorded a warm welcome to the Russian Senator who was here on a working visit and appreciated the longstanding historical and mutually beneficial relationship between Ethiopia and Russia.
The Ambassador also expressed hope that Russia’s support to Ethiopia in education and other sectors would further be expanded.
Speaking about Ethiopia’s aspirations to meet the Sustainable Development Goals, Ambassador Redwan said the completion of the GERD would boost the country’s potential to lift its citizens out of abject poverty and the construction of the dam would not pose a security threat to anyone.
Klimov, on his part, said Russia is interested in working together with Ethiopia, particularly on education, investment, humanitarian assistance, health and among others.
The Russian Senator also called on African countries to actively participate in the upcoming Russia-Africa Summit.
