ADDIS ABABA – The suffering of the people of Tigray after TPLF junta’s 27-year false triumph over poverty is embarrassing, General Manager of the Ethiopian Satellite Television and Radio (ESAT), Andargachew Tsige said, adding that the outlaw group is solely responsible for the misery of the people.
Speaking to The Ethiopian Press Agency, Andargachew stated that Tigray’s reliance on food aid exposes the junta’s 27-year rhetoric about bringing development and changing the livelihoods of the people as
absolute lie. The suffering gives an ample opportunity for Tigray people to understand the TPLF clique has done everything for its own benefit during its 27-year oppressive leadership.
The ex-detainee further noted that Tigray’s poverty showcases the fact that the criminal gangs have solely shared the vast wealth it has looted from all over the country for its inner circle. The grave crime the faction has committed does not have association with the people of Tigray.
“Let alone benefiting from TPLF’s pseudo prosperity and economic success, the people of Tigray were deprived of the political freedom the rest of Ethiopians have been enjoyed during Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s (Ph.D) tenure.” Tigray people understand TPLF’s resistance to embrace democracy, manifests how primitive the junta’s public leadership was.
Noting that close to one million people benefited from SafetyNet program before the launching of law enforcement operation in Tigray, Andargachew highlighted that a significant portion of the society was also reliant on food aid. “Ethiopians and the global community need to understand that the existing food shortage in Tigray is unrelated to government’s rule of law operation.”
He stressed that due consideration should be given to ease challenges the people of Tigray shouldered due to TPLF’s poor leadership particularly in addressing food and medicine shortage. The ex-freedom fighter pointed out that the Government of Ethiopia has done by its all capacity to avail basic services in Tigray.
Remnants of the crushed group hiding in caves have made evil attempts to disrupt government’s food and medicine supply and impede the starved citizens’ access to the support thorough disseminating fake news.
About media’s propaganda, he said that the public and political actors have not attached their attention to misinformation that has been disseminated by few members of the Tigray Diaspora engaged in using the media as instrument of political gain.
The aim of these political interest groups is affecting the food and medicine supply thereby creating catastrophe in Tigray and capitalizing on the situation to their political benefit in putting the blame for loss of lives in the government, Andargachew remarked.
