ADDIS ABABA- Plan International said that it has committed to support government priority areas to bring sustainable generational changes within communities.

Plan International Country Ethiopia Director, Peter Sweetnam told The Ethiopian Herald that as we are part of developing Ethiopia, we have to support the government to bring sustainable changes within communities. “We can work in our position to it. We have to support the government priorities otherwise we simply dilute the effort.”

To make the most of efforts and government resources flow into the country, we need to have a concerted general effort. As a result, we are delivering directly on government priorities at the federal, state as well as woreda level, he said.

According to him, it has been working with communities to bring practical solutions for people’s life in combination works with communities. And it concentrated on gender equality, education, access to livelihood opportunities, early marriage, sexual and gender violence among others.

It has a unique opportunity to bring solutions for communities as it spent many years working with particular communities. It is the real sustainable multiple generational changes within communities. It uses much admirable to advocate for positioning  communities for the access to resources, access to education, water and sanitation as well as teachers and school improvement support particularly in refugee camps, he added.

“We are building up a ground’s swale of practical support as well as solid the community by societal changes which the societies seem to want self-ambition support of government priorities.”

The collaboration work will broadly bring its role on development of Ethiopia as a whole. For example, early child development, pre-primary school education, and now we are focusing on livelihoods’ development whether it is the ability for people to get and keep jobs to generate income, he said.

“We will be doing more than this looking now. Now, we are looking how to develop our impact, best of doing, reach many people, and do more effectively for people of Ethiopia where the service oriented organization will hit the servants. We have an obligation to serve as well as to the maximum impact for the people of Ethiopia for the government priorities.”

He noted that much effort is needed to bring a sustainable change in various aspects.
