Council demonstrates solidarity to law enforcement operation

ADDIS ABABA- Abba Gadaa Council (traditional community leaders of Oromo people), has expressed unwavering support to government’s law enforcement operation targeting to halt the destructive activities of TPLF junta and OLF Shene and bring fugitives from justice to court.

Speaking to The Ethiopian Herald, Chief of the Oromo Abba Gedaas, Jilo Mandho said that the two groups are responsible for the unrest in different parts of the country that has caused loss of lives and destruction and looting on public and private properties.

The chief Aba Gadaa stated that TPLF junta and OLF Shene had been committing heinous crimes against defenseless civilians and killing children, women and elders including Abba Gedaas in his locality, Guji Zone of Oromia State.

Noting OLF Shene’s widespread practice of raping women in different parts of Oromia, Jilo indicated the suffering of women and Abba Gedaas by the criminal gang is against the norms and values of the Oromo people what women and elders are entitled huge respect. “The criminal group killed a number of government officials and damaged several religious institutions in Guji Zone.”

The OLF Shene has posed serious challenge in the security and free movement of people and deprived their right to property by repeated looting of private and public properties. Hence, government’s law enforcement operation is essential to arrest the destructive activities of the outlawed group and bring to justice individuals taking inhumane measures.

Thousands of people displaced from their homes due to OLF Shene’s violent activities that targeted on some ethnic groups.

“Since the launching of law enforcement operation in Guji Zone and surrounding areas, relative peace is endured, he said, adding that free movement of people is restored and a significant number of members of the criminal group surrendered to the national army.

The chief Abba Gadaa further highlighted that the community has been hugely participating for the successful accomplishment of the law enforcement operation in providing information about the whereabouts of criminal elements.

The community should sustain their support to government’s peace enforcement campaigns, he called.
