ADDIS ABABA- A crew of journalists who paid visit to Tekeze hydroelectric power plant said the TPLF junta ‘s accusation of government forces’ attacks on the dam is totally unfounded .
Following the recent visit to the plant ,the journalists confirmed that no air strikes were carried out on the dam and witnessed the partial operations of power plant as well, Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP)Communication Director Moges Mekonnen said.
“ The plant would soon be in full operation having fixed the conductor and insulator damages sustained to transmission lines by the junta,” he added.
The one unit of the plant is still generating power to the surrounding areas ,Moges said.
“The transmission lines of sub-stations from Tekeze dam to Mekelle and Shire town had been dismantled by the TPLF Junta. Thus, EEP is working day and night to restore electricity through fixing the transmission lines”, he stressed.
As to him, EEP is restoring electric power withstanding the difficult terrains in Tigray state.
Currently, electricity has been restored in most parts of the Tigray State. Accordingly, the Junta demolished different infrastructures including electric power, telecom, road, and airports in the state.
