UNSC understands junta no longer security threat to Ethiopia

  • Calls for more humanitarian aids to Tigray

ADDIS ABABA- The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) in its informal meeting held last Monday underlined that the TPLF junta would no longer be a security threat to Ethiopia and the region and urged for a speedy humanitarian response.

Moreover, UNSC called the UN agencies and the international community to extend humanitarian aids to communities affected by the unrest in Tigray State, according to Ethiopia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Taye Atske-Selassie .

As to the Ambassador , the UNSC member countries expressed their understanding that the government of Ethiopia has carried out the law enforcement operation with a view to safeguarding the country’s territorial integrity and the issue is totally internal.

The meeting will not have a negative impact on the new stage of [rebuilding and rehabilitating the people and the state] that is also targeted at halting the destructive activities of TPLF junta and bringing leaders of the outlawed group before the court of law, the permanent representative remarked.
