10-year Nat’l plan envisages making Ethiopia beacon of prosperity in Africa

ADDIS ABABA- A 10- year national plan (2013-2022 E.C.) meant to make Ethiopia a beacon of prosperity in Africa was green lighted yesterday by the Council of Ministers.

In his tweet, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (Ph.D) sated that the plan would enable the country to take a high growth trajectory.

The plan consists of 10 pillars with unique focus areas on peace building and institutional transformation, the prime Minister said.

In its 92nd regular session, the cabinet deliberated on the national plan of prosperity roadmap which is said to be in line with the home-grown economic reform agenda.

Further, the plan enhances harmony among the various sectors, identifies priority areas of the development pillars, and ensures equity in accessing resources among citizens while enabling to register sustainable economic growth and guaranteeing Ethiopia’s all-round prosperity, information obtained from the Office of the Prime Minister shows.

According to the Prime Minister, the Council of Ministers has also approved the draft Media Proclamation which governs print and broadcast media, also introducing a legal framework for online media and has referred it to the parliament.

“Outlining roles and responsibilities in the sector, the proclamation will bolster freedom of expression and press freedoms.” premier added.
