Plausible bond for prosperous Ethiopia: Unity

BY ADDISALEM MUALT

Nobody denies the fact that Ethiopia is home to a wide spectrum of Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples. They live under Ethiopia’s skies with love, harmony, respect, and other similar things time and time. There is no room in their hearts for loath and hostility. They detest demeaning and degrading others except giving prominence to peaceful co-existence.

If truth be told, the Ethiopians blood bond is extremely strong and cannot be detached with no trouble. Without any embroidery, no earthly power can break the fortified bond of Ethiopians by any means necessary seeing that they have much in common.

Apart from possessing a huge variety of wedding, mourning, and joy sharing ceremonies, the various Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples of Ethiopia possess mesmerizing cultures and norms that can win the hearts and minds of everyone in the twinkling of an eye. More to the point, the entire country is inundated with abundant untapped natural resources that can serve as a magnet for tourists.

As might be expected, the people of Ethiopia were able to pass through many twists and turns in the course of the reign of the TPLF junta officials who were constantly coming up with evil mechanisms that made possible the divide and rule principle all over the country. In earlier times, the TPLF Junta officials were constantly busying themselves in forming a divided nation.

In times gone, people who were constantly talking about the unity of Ethiopia were thrown into prison under the guise of a variety of lame reasons.

They were allegoric to the name Ethiopia, even. More often than not the name Ethiopia makes the TPLF Junta officials feel sick almost immediately. As everybody knows the truth that as the TPLF Junta officials hate to death Ethiopia, they were dreaming of dismantling the entire nation.

Even though Ethiopians were under the yoke of TPLF junta officials for nearly three decades, the latter was persistently heard speaking ill of the previous regimes as if they did great things for the whole nation.

Though Ethiopian Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples of Ethiopia day were celebrated at different times, the TPLF Junta officials were throwing cold water on the unity of the country. Sad as it may sound, the juntas were sowing the seeds of hatred, cruelty, jealousy and mercilessness amid Ethiopians. They were pulling all the stops to break the long-lasting bond of the various Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples of Ethiopia giving the cold shoulder to unity.

Back in the day, Ethiopia was getting off the right track on account of their bad deeds and evil acts on account of TPLF junta officials’ ill-mannered attitudes towards the general public.

As they were backing the country into a corner from time to time, the situation of the country was going from the bad to the worse, and the whole lot was in the balance and thus Ethiopians were sick and tired of being alive. Whatever happened to them, they turned a blind eye and a deaf ear. No matter what may come, they did not care about the wellbeing of the country.

The concluding ceremony of the fifteenth Nations, Nationalities and Peoples day celebrated giving great emphasis to unity at Friendship Park last Tuesday in the presence of President Sahelwork Zewide, Speaker of House of Federation, Adam Farah, the Addis Ababa City Deputy Mayor Adanch Abebie, ministers, regional administrators, and representatives of a wide spectrum of the various Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples of Ethiopia.

It was to be remembered that the Nations, Nationalities and Peoples day was celebrated at different regional states with a wide array of themes in Bahir Dar, Jigjiga, Assossa, Gambela, Harar, and the like.

Regarding the issue, The Ethiopian Herald approached a person who would like his name remained unanimous to have his feelings, ideas, and thoughts concerning this year’s Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples Day celebration.

As to him, this year’s Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples day celebration very unique compared to the previous years’ seeing that the program attached significance to the unity of Ethiopia, which has never been cited in the utterances of the junta officials.

Yes, this was not the case in the past, absolutely. As everyone is well aware, the past celebrations were fully focusing on ethnicity and race-based discourses sowing the seeds of discord.

Although the number of participants was not that big following the COVID-19 pandemic, they managed to pass their time paying homage to a wide spectrum of development activities carried out in Addis Ababa over the past two years for the most part after Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed came to power and other related activities.

“When I heard the news regarding the attack on the Northern Command of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces, I got furious. I got petrified. I did not know what I had to do. Our soldiers are the apple of Ethiopians and the unwavering saviors next to the creator.

They mean everything to us. For the love of coming to power again, they attacked the Ethiopian National Defense forces. They were dreaming of coming to power again and making the lives of the general public a living hell.”

When I heard the accomplishment of the law enforcement operation in the shortest time possible, I embarked on jumping for joy. Celebrating this year’s Nations, Nationalities, and People’s day after the aftermath of the full success of law enforcement operation makes it very unique.

Nowadays, Ethiopians residing in every nook and cranny of the world have been expressing their infinite happiness in this regard except some cliques who were unfairly sharing the looted national wealth.

They did not expect the Ethiopian National Defense Forces would get rid of the TPLF junta officials’ clique once and for all from the face of the earth in a little while. However, the TPLF junta officials managed to meet their end.

On the occasion of the ceremony, the Addis Ababa City Government received an award for smoothing the progress of the successful completion of the celebration of the 15th Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples of Ethiopia.

Deputy Mayor of Addis Ababa, Adanch Abebie regarding the award said, “Thank you for the award. I am truly honored to receive it. The achievement behind the successful accomplishment of this program is the cumulative contribution of the inhabitants of Addis Ababa and its leadership. To this end, the credit goes to them as well. We have been awarded for hosting representatives of the various Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples of Ethiopia!”

She stressed that Addis Ababa is the home of all Ethiopians, and the city is big enough for all of us.

She went on to say, “Targeting at collecting one billion Birr, the City Government of Addis Ababa has made the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam Trophy stay in Addis until January,”

Along the same vein, she called upon Ethiopians to keep on supporting the dam by purchasing bonds and partaking in various alternatives provided that the dam is the emblem our freedom, unity and fraternity, the way out of poverty and whatnot.”

President Sahlework Zewde on her part said regarding the 15th Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Day at Friendship Square positioned in Addis Ababa, “To this point, Ethiopians have passed through quite a lot of ups and downs.”

The President as well expressed her sincere respect and appreciation for the Ethiopian National Defense Forces for the successful accomplishment of the law enforcement operation at the earliest moment without causing civilians casualties in the Tigray region.

In the same way, the president expressed her deep condolences on the damages caused by the sudden attack of the TPLF Junta clique in the Northern Command of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces.

She also underlined that owing to the long-sightedness of the sons and daughters of Ethiopia; the country was able to build international institutions and contributed to the world heritages.
