Beyond Brave

The 20th, regiment is one of the divisions of the Northern Command, in Tigray State. And Corporal Gebeyanesh Debalkie is one of the women fighters serving in the 1st Bergade, 1st regiment.

Gebeyanesh has been serving in a regiment under the 20th Division of the Northern Command as security guard for the Division’s Commander, Colonel Solomon G/Yohannes. However she never had a slightest idea as Col. Solomon was member of TPLF junta; serving the junta secretly.

Three days earlier the apostate group had taken its destructive act against the Northern Command of the Ethiopian National Defence Forces base in Tigray, the means that the Army can get food and water were closed leaving the army for starvation and thirsty.

As to her, before that day, the militaries was made to put their artilleries in the store and engaged in helping the community. Amazingly, that night, all the security posts were replaced by Tigray-born militants and especial forces.

Sadly, the Defence Forces in a situation they were not ready and could not protect themselves, the traitor TPLF militants and especial forces attack them, she said with depressed tone.

However, the members of the Defence Forces with greater commitment and braveness as well as undertaking unthinkable adventures and retreating systematically to the neighboring Eritrea, have saved their lives, she added.

At time, there was an increasing heavy gunshot towards our camp and everybody was running here and there to survive. The gun shots were growing. In the meantime, she realized as Colonel Solomon was hiding himself in a rest room and conducting an act of betrayal.

Ethiopianism is patriotism, she said while narrating how she kneeled down her former chief; and the current traitor.

Gebeyanesh did not spent a time, she ordered Col. Solomon to show himself as she choose to kill herself than her life is being taken by TPLF militia and Special Force.

Pointing the gun in front of him, Gebeyanesh ordered Colonel Solomon to get out of the rest room and return his badge telling him otherwise she will be forced to take action.

“Drop your pistol, take off your shoes and insignia!” Gebeyanesh ordered him furiously.

As he went out of the rest room, she made him took off his shoes and walk in his bare feet along with members of the national forces she met them on her way. Then she handed him over for loyal commanders, according to ENDF.

Corporal Gebeyanesh has expressed her gratitude over the heroic victory of the National Defense Forces who prioritize Ethiopiansim leaving behind the heinous and cruel attack made by the junta on his comrades
