Days of peace beyond the horizon

Haji Mohammed Merhan, a religious father, is a resident of Shire Town, Tigray State. The treason and atrocities attack against the Ethiopian National Defence Force (ENDF) has not only saddened him; but also obliged him to shed tears.

Even in the Holy Book, Quran, it is turpitude to murder someone falling asleep and does not commit any wrongs. Unarguably, the crime the TPLF junta committed is entirely unacceptable and offensive among the communities. The incident has broken the hearts of both the Muslim and Christian communities, he said.

“We did not believe our eyes and ears when we heard the bad news and witnessed it. While the National Defence Forces deserved special humanistic care, the apostate groups have stabbed them in the back. The gruesome attack has angered the residence of Shire Town, Haji Mohammed said with a sense of bitterness.

However, because the communities were not in a position to stop the wicked acts of the junta, they prefer to stay silent. For long, the people had been waiting till the right time comes and do away with the junta, he added.

As to him, the communities were under the grave oppression and subjugation of the TPLF junta. They were tired of them. “However, currently, the junta is chased away by the National Defence Forces and we have begun living in an atmosphere of peace,” he remarked with greater relief.

Apart from infrastructure challenge that are witnessed in the area and the fact that a number of people are leading hand-to-mouth life, the day-to-day activities of the people was disrupted by the crisis the defiant group had created. Luckily, after the National Forces have taken over the area, they have enabled to secure the lives of the dwellers even by offering their own rations. The people are extremely happy by the Forces, he remarked.

The people are supporting the National Defense Forces. In future, it is important to assign supporters of the reform so as to sustain the peace and security of the area.

The people also should join hands and take part in peacekeeping efforts by exposing junta’s blatant propaganda and false narratives.

The other religious father, MelakeSelam Sebehat Gebre wahed GebreMariam on his part said that the town had been troubled by junta’s evil acts; as a result of this, the dwellers were suffering a lot. “If there is conflict and instability, no party benefits, except forcing people to flee their homes.”

The inhuman act the armed group had done against the National Defence Forces is a complete anathema that signifies excommunication for religious reasons. The people also enraged by the incident.

Development and security can be realized through peace. The junta, for not understanding this reality, has led the people to several problems.

Mentioning that religious institutions had been trying to make the junta work closely with the government, he said however the effort fall on deaf ears from the sides of the destructive group. This has obliged the National forces to take law enforcement actions. In turn, Shire, the town has now gained its peace.

Currently, if any destructive force comes to disrupt the activity of the national forces, the people are preparing to curb the plot.

As to Melake Selam Sebehat Gebre wahed, what the Shire people think and discuss these days is how to join hands and stand together along with the government so as to sustain the ongoing peace.

The people are now enjoying the freedom and peace gained by the expenses of the National Defence Forces and they are expressing gratitude time and again to the forces, he concluded.
