Agency reshuffles projects to improve execution performance

ADDIS ABABA– River Basin Green Area Development and Administration Agency announced it is reshuffling three projects due to mandate overlaps and poor performances, disclosed the Agency.

Agency General Manager Dr. Silesh Degefa said the three projects namely Entoto tourist destination, river and river side and recreation and park developments are reorganized by Addis Ababa City Council.

The reshuffle came due to ineffectiveness, mandate overlap and stretched plan, he added.

Feasibility study was also conducted at a cost of 35 million birr on Kebena, Afenchober, Jemo and Akaki rivers at different phase levels. The agency with the help

last three years.

The study opted to assess buffer related issues, catchment management, pollution, sanitation, policy and legal framework and socio-economic condition of the city.

“When the projects are reorganized under one umbrella, the execution would be productive and successful”.

There are seven rivers in the city whose total length is 600 kilometers. And efforts are being excreted to develop the river and the river basin to create environmental friendly place for the society at large.

The agency is working to increasing the coverage of green areas in Addis Ababa city and beautifying its surroundings, making greening pedestrian roads and roundabout, cleaning polluted rivers and developing river basins and building recreational area for youth and residents and so on . of Addis Ababa University has also been conducting various assessments on the projects for the
