Arab, Islamic World should give Egypt Medias’ ill-equipped mission deaf ears

ADDIS ABABA – Religious Leaders yesterday said that the deliberately puffing of unfounded allegation of Egypt’s media outlets to regard Ethiopia as a foe for Arab world and Islam so as to grab public attention locally has no ground at all.

Speaking to The Ethiopian Herald, South Wollo Islamic Affairs Secretary Eshetu Yasin noted that Ethiopian’s role in instilling Islam is so incredible, we are committed to preserve it to the coming generation because this is one of our precious and scared values.

Egyptian Media houses’ effort to exploit their unjust interest towards the Nile water share at the expense of Islam is trifle because it is an insult to all Muslims around the world. “The media is trying to entertain this kind of framing to sustain the Nile hegemony.” Egyptian media rhetoric do not fit Ethiopia’s place in the Holy Book of Quran.

“This is the time we are looking for fair and equitable water utilization and fill our Dam, not to grapple with other unrelated issues.”

Responding to the impact and history of Islam, he noted that Ethiopia is known for being a land where religious rights are respected and whose land is ruled with justice.

The migration to Ethiopia that has laid down the foundations, on which Islam was built, was the first migration in the history of Islam. Ethiopia is, therefore, a land that nurtures freedom of expression and protection for Islam.

The fictitious media production is really ridiculous and the media should refrain from distorting the bold history at the expense of disseminating the facts on the ground.

Media houses should allocate time and resources to inform Egyptians and fellow Arab world the reality on the ground that 86 percent of water originates from Ethiopia, and over 50 million Ethiopians are not using electric power.

Senbete Town religious leader, Sheik Umar Sheik Mohammad, on his part underlined that the premises is wrong because Ethiopia is a place where Islam has got a foothold and begun to spread under the just leadership of the then King Al-Nejashi.
