Sidama: The 10th State

ADDIS ABABA— The Southern Nations, Nationalities, and People’s (SNNP) State Council on its emergency meeting yesterday officially transferred power to the new and 10th Sidama State concluding the Sidama people’s struggle for statehood.

SNNP State Chief Restu Yirdaw pledged to work in concert with the new State aiming at mutual prosperity, Fana Broadcasting Corporate reported.

The council also congratulated the people of Sidama for their achievement as a 10th member of the federation.

The Council also deliberated on the state’s fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

It is to be recalled that the people of Sidama cast a landslide ballot in favor of statehood in a referendum held in Nov 2019.
