UAE sends second COVID-19 medical supplies to Ethiopia

ADDIS ABABA – The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced that the country sent last week a second aid plane containing medical supplies to Ethiopia to bolster the latter’s efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19 and assist medical professionals.
In a press statement sent to The Ethiopian Herald, the Embassy said that Ethiopia has served as a symbol of courage in the fight against the pandemic and the country has been essential to efforts by the UAE and international organizations to distribute lifesaving aids to another African countries.
“It is UAE’s honor to deliver another shipment of aid to Ethiopia to further assist the country in protecting its healthcare workers and a larger population from the virus.”
It was recalled that in last April, a UAE aid plane carrying approximately 33 metric tons of medical supplies was dispatched to Ethiopia to assist approximately 33,000 healthcare professionals. From the stated amount of medical supplies, 15 metric tons was the aid UAE provided to Ethiopia and the three metric tons was delivered to the African Union. The remaining 15 metric tons was offered by the World Health Organization (WHO) to Ethiopia and 30 other African countries to support COVID-19 responses, it was learnt.
