Addis Ababa- The Council of Ministers yesterday approved Ethiopia’s membership to the Africa’s Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCTA) .
Prime Minister Office said in a statement it released yesterday that AfCTA would be one of the biggest trade agreements since the creation of the World Trade Agreement (WTO) that would attempt to create a single market in Africa.
The cabinet decision is consistent with PM Dr. Abiy Ahmed’s vision of creating a robust regional integration in Africa— “where minds are open to ideas and markets are open to trade”, said the Office. Ethiopia’s decision and track record of advocating Pan African causes will effectively bring the vision of an integrated Africa closer to a reality, added the Office.
