Ethiopian Airlines finalizes transporting Jack Ma’s 2nd round donation

ADDIS ABABA – The Ethiopian Airlines announced that it has completed the flight and delivery of the second round shipments of life saving medical supplies to fight COVID-19 donated by Jack Ma to all African countries, chosen for giving cargo service for different countries.

On a press release sent for medias, The Airlines has expressed its complements and the highest appreciation to the Jack Ma Foundation, the Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (Ph.D), WFP and the African CDC for giving them the opportunity to serve Africa, particularly during this unprecedented global health and economic crisis.

“It is a special honor for the entire Ethiopian Airlines family to be selected as logistics partner and distribution hub for Africa by the Jack Ma foundation, our Prime Minster, WFP and the African CDC.

This project which is running its second round of shipment delivery showed the true African integration in line with the AU Vision 2063.

It is a role model for what Africa can achieve in its quest for continental integration. We are also happy to see the fruits of our multi hundred Million Dollars investment in Cargo infrastructure now coming to save Africa from the COVID-19,” the CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Group, Tewolde Gebremariam, said

Coupled with designated as Humanitarian Air Hub by WFP and WHO to dispatch critical supplies across Africa Ethiopia has successfully delivered the first round of donation of Jack Ma and Alibaba Foundation to African countries, which was initiated by Ethiopian Prime Minister, Dr. Abiy Ahmed.

Meanwhile documents from the Ethiopian Airlines revealed that it has obtained an approval from Thailand, and operated cargo cabin loading with its aircraft. It is therefore giving quality cargo services from Tailand to America, Europe, and other parts of a world.

Additionally, the Airlines has been chosen to transport Tanzania’s fresh products to European markets. And it is to be recalled that different UN Agencies, donor governments and philanthropists are using Addis Ababa as a hub to distribute medical supplies across Africa as part of the global effort to contain COVID-19.

The CEO further remarked that Ethiopian Airlines has been a key enabler in the global effort to conquer COVID-19 by facilitating the shipment of life-saving medical supplies to different parts of the world. And he expressed Ethiopia’s privilege to serve the world in this difficult time deploying its state-of-the-art Pharma Wing as well as our cargo and passenger fleet.
