.Emperor Hailesellasie I to get memorial statue on AU premises
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia is set to hold warm welcome for Presidents of Guinea and Estonia as well as European Union Foreign Affairs and Security Policy chief who would arrive here for official visit, according to FDRE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).
Briefing journalists yesterday, MoFA Spokesperson Nebiat Getachew said Guinean President Alpha Konde, Estonian President Chersti Kaljulayed and European Union Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Chief Fedrica Mogerni will arrive here for official visit, by the end of next week. During his visit to Ethiopia, Guinean President Alpha Conde will discuss with Prime Minister Dr.Abiy Ahmad on bilateral and multilateral issues.
The two countries are also expected to sign about 11 agreements including establishment of strategic partnership, agriculture, health, financial administration and tourism. EU Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Chief Fedrica Megrni will hold talks with FDRE Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Workineh Gebeyehu on the ever-growing strategic relations and the promising peace and cooperation atmosphere that reigned in the region following the change that unfolded in Ethiopia. Ethiopia and EU have a rapidly growing strategic relation and cooperation, according to the MoFA press statement.
Estonian President Chersti kaljulayed will hold talks with Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed on bilateral and Multilateral issues. Estonia, which is a member of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and Organization for Security and Cooperation of Europe (OSCE) is building strong relations with African countries especially with Ethiopia.
The President’s visit to Ethiopia will create favorable conditions to work on continental and international affairs since Estonia is current president of European Union. It is to be recalled that Estonia President visited Ethiopia on November 2017. Meanwhile African Union (AU) will also holds its 32nd Summit here in Addis Ababa next week, according to the Ministry’s statement.
The conference is unique from the preceding 31 annual session due to the existence of cultural exchange among the participants and the visit in various places in the city. In the opening of the annual session, a new memorial statue of Emperor Hailselasie I will be inaugurated. The statue was made in recognition of the Emperor’s indispensable role for the formation of Organization of Africa Unity (OAU) now AU.
