Kenenisa to take part in Tokyo Marathon

The Ethiopian three-time Olympic gold medallist Kenenisa Bekele has decided to take part in the Tokyo Marathon that is set to take place in the early March, the Tokyo Marathon organizers disclosed.

A couple of months ago Kenenisa announced that he would not take part in any international contest unless he fully recovers from his sustained leg injury. He was very much disappointed after he stopped half way during the Berlin Marathon due to injury. Right after that Kenenisa said on Ethiopian TV that unless he feels comfortably well he will not run again.

It seems now he has changed his mind. That is probably he feels that he has fully recovered from his sustained injury. Kenenisa has the best time of 2 hours 03 minutes and 03 seconds in marathon. He won gold medal in the 2007 World Championship that took place in Japan in 10, 000meters.

His effort now seems to regain a place in the 2020 Japan Olympics. If he wins the possibility of getting a place is wide. What is not confirmed is his health situation. His private or the Ethiopian Athletics Federation medical centre didn’t give the current medical condition of Kenenisa.
