Woraelu’s museum project faces delay

WORAELU – Despite the Woraelu Town Mayor Office(WTMO) repeated calls for building campus and museum in a bid to preserve various heritages that have direct links in symbolizing the victory of Adwa , the government and other concerned bodies have so far turned deaf ears to such requests.

Representative of Woraelu Town Mayor, Hussein Ali told The Ethiopian Herald that the values of Adwa victories for Pan-Africanism have been recognized by the whole world and the government, but, the government has been reluctant to build a campus and museum at Woraelu town where a number historical heritages particularly related to the battle of Adwa are found.

“If such facilities are put in place at the town, it will help Woraelu to gain proper recognition, because our town has played a key role in the battle of Adwa.”

As to him, heritages such as clothes, weapons, and other materials which were used by Ethiopian fighters during the war against the Italian invaders at Adwa are now kept in some religious institutions and in the houses of individuals.

Most of the individuals who own the historical heritages are willing to give back the heritages to the office of the mayor if the museum is built, he noted.

Therefore, the museum is important to protect the heritages at risk and he called for the Ethiopian government and other concerned bodies to pay due attention towards the project.

If the Museum is constructed, it will be a great gift for the next generation apart from helping to attract tourists from all over world, he added.
